| The front door squeaked open, startling me. I bolted upright in bed. Outside the bedroom, a distorted shadow stretched across the hallway floor. Floorboards groaned as the shadow's owner crept towards the vulnerable bedroom doorway. I jumped from the warm, perfect bed. Hid behind the door. A wide, towering shadow oozed across the bedroom floor as whoever, or whatever, was casting the dark reflection sneaked into the room. I ran from my hiding spot. Sped down the stairs. Then sprinted out the door. As I fled the cottage, complaints assaulted my ears. Three bears growled about ruined porridge, disturbed chairs, and invaded beds. -----  -----103 words |
