Detective Marsh led the bust into the house.

The suspect was nabbed, climbing his backyard fence.

As Marsh clamped handcuffs around the killer's wrists, memory of the sickening scent of death and disinfectant that had overwhelmed him at the crime scene came rushing back. Marsh swallowed hard to keep the bile rising to his throat at bay.

The murderer glared at the detective. He ran through a mental checklist of all he'd touched, and then made sure he'd wiped clean. Doorknob. Knife.

"You got careless," Marsh cut in. "Or stupid." He smiled a triumphant grin. "You left prints on the bottle of bleach you used to clean up the blood."
