Death On The Doorstep
When the day comes
to leave this place,
I hope you don't shed
too many tears.

I know I won't read
all the books in the world,
won't see all
that I hoped to see.

Life does go by
in a blink of an eye,
but I won't regret
all the memories made.

I've seen the world
through friends I've made,
read all I could,
in the time that I've had.

When Death comes knocking
I hope I'm strong enough
to face the challenges
which await me.

Inside my coffin
place a few books,
by authors unknown to me,
a case of Coke,
in case I'm thirsty,
and some smokes
for the road.
