May Prompts

Main Prompt = Death

The month of May is the fifth one of the year. Whether it’s a Novel or a Script my fifth and tenth Chapters or Scenes are a lot stronger than the others. They don’t have to be life or death, life-threatening, a cliffhanger, etc., but they can be. That’s why I chose Death for this month’s Main Prompt. We have all dealt with it at least once in our lives or we will if we haven’t yet. Whether it’s a loved one, a friend, someone you know, etc. it’s how we deal with Death is what matters. That is your challenge this month.

Genre Prompts

Action/Adventure = Death is a big part of this genre. Not as much when it comes to Adventure, but it is with Action. It can be with Adventure too, though. You are an Indiana Jones/Lara Croft type of character. What kind of an Adventure is it, and what kind of death is it? Is it just one or several?

Children’s = A pet isn’t really a loved one, but it can be a friend. It usually is a friend. Sometimes your best friend or your only one. Losing a pet can be very hard on a child. You have just lost a pet. What kind of a pet was it? How did they die, and how are you going to deal with that death?

Drama = Medical Dramas are almost a thing of the past. They are still around, but not as much as they used to be. You are a medical person who has a death or deaths to deal with. What kind of death is it? Is it just one or several? How are you going to deal with it? Maybe it’s an unknown death?

Fantasy = This genre is a lot like Action/Adventure. Death is a big part of it. The only difference is that fantasies are more Adventure than they are Action, but a lot of them are Action too. A lot of them are also Quests. You are on a quest. What kind of death is it, and what are you going to do about it?

Horror/Scary = Death is a big part of this genre too. That is especially true when it comes Horror. It can be with Scary, but not as much as it is with Horror. It’s up to you who you are. So is what kind of a death or deaths that it is. Is it Horror or Scary? Maybe it’s a combination of them both.

Mystery = There is a lot of Mystery when it comes to some Death. Some can be simple, like old-age, but a lot can not be explained so simply. That’s where the Mystery comes in. You’re a Private Eye, a Detective, etc. with a death to deal with. What kind of a death(s) is it, and what are you going to do about it?

Romance/Love = Losing a loved one is one of the hardest things to deal with. Especially when it comes to teens, preteens, or children. You have just lost someone that you love. Who was it: A husband, wife, father, mother, sister, or brother? How did it happen and how are you going to deal with it?

Science Fiction = SpaceDeath is a term that is used by most of the universe to explain a series of unexplainable deaths. You are a medical professional on a spaceship, space station, etc. where SpaceDeath has happened. What kind of deaths are they? How are you going to stop them before it’s too late?

Teen = Unfortunately, there is a lot of teens who die daily. It can be a car accident, drugs, illness, suicide, etc. Whatever it is, it can be hard for those around them to deal with it. You are one of those individuals. Who has died? How did they die, and how are you going to deal with it?

Thriller/Suspense = Most of the time Death can be quick, but it isn’t always that way. Sometimes it can take a long time to die, and sometimes it’s not quite that long. You are one of those who isn’t a quick death. What kind of a death are you going through, and how long is it going to last?

Westerns = This type of genre has a lot of Death within it. Living in the Old West was hard. Death was a big part of it. Especially if you are a lawman or an outlaw. Even being a farmer, a rancher, or a town person can be someone who could end up dead. You are one of these individuals.

Young Adults = There are two types of deaths: Unnatural and natural. Natural ones are like old-age or an illness, and unnatural are like murder or suicide. You are a friend, family member, etc. to one of those two types. Which one are you? What type of death is it. How do you deal with it.
