I’m Not Bummed Out About My Water Wars Movie Treatment
I’m Not Bummed Out About My Water Wars Movie Treatment

I am in a deep depression. I have been for the last couple of days since I learned that once again I didn’t win the WDC Contest for last month. I read the winners. And I don’t think that they are any better than mine. Some of them are even worse than mine when it comes to grammar, missing words, misspelled words, repetition, etc. that I don’t win because of.

I used to have several fans that liked what I wrote. I may still have a few. But they are mostly newbies that don’t know how bad of a writer that I am. True, story-wise most of them like my stories. They think that I have a good imagination. But when it comes to grammar, etc. that they don’t like. This may read like I don’t like criticism, but that’s not true. I want to know what is wrong with my stories. Who knows, someday I might try to get some of them published if I can do that.

Sometimes I think that I should just write what I joined WDC to do. And that’s to write screenplays. To give up on Short Stories, novels, etc. I have tried to do several things on WDC. Including another blog that didn’t last too long. But I have failed at them most of the time. I will probably try the WDC monthly contest once or twice more. But it that doesn’t work out then I will discontinue doing it. A real test of whether I continue or not is with this month’s WDC Contest. If I don’t win it then I doubt that I ever will. So, why continue trying.

That’s enough of my ranting a raving. Now for the good stuff: my Water Wars scriptwriting project. It’s true that I only got twenty scene paragraphs written yesterday at work. But it’s not because of my depression. I haven’t let that affect my Water Wars project yet. It hasn’t even slowed me down that much. No, the reason why I didn’t get more done is that I didn’t have the time to do it. I probably could have done another ten, including about five Establishing Shots, with the hour I had left at work. But I decided twenty was good enough.

Normally, work is the reason why I can’t get more writing done. But that’s not true yesterday. Saturday’s are usually slow. And yesterday was one of those Saturday’s. I had plenty of time to do it. I’m just not sure why I couldn’t do more than I did. Maybe it’s because it took me about an hour to do the first two scene paragraphs for my Water Wars movie Treatment. But I don’t think that’s the answer. Besides, once I got past them my fingers and pencils took over.

What am I going to do today when it comes to my writing? I’m going to continue working on my Water Wars movie Treatment. I'm starting with my Tag Act One. Then I’m going to do my Teaser Act Two. Combined them with about ten Establish Shots, I should be able to get about thirty more scene paragraphs done today. Of course, that all depends on how busy I am at work. If it’s a normal Sunday, that shouldn’t be a problem doing that many.
