Least favorite season
The season of politics is my least favorite of all! Like in a monsoon, courtesy, respect and consideration are strewn about n a topsy-turvy and violent nature. People, once presumed as friends, family, and acquaintances become hostile and angry. Some even have the gall to suggest “unfriending” them on social media if they don’t agree with their current position And it takes but one right-sided slide of the forefinger to accomplish blocking an offending post. In this destructive and antagonistic season, society is pitted as enemies for differing viewpoints. Thoughts, ideas, concepts, and vision are what make a nation great, if we are allowed to give voice without fear of personal attack. Social grace has all but vanished. There may be a bit of COVID mania stirring the tempest this year but it hurts my soul. I know of several loved ones that have left Facebook altogether The negativity has killed the joy of virtually visiting friends, keeping up with the lives of their children while quarantined, seeing pictures of grandkids on the first day of face-to-face, hybrid, or virtual school, sharing the miracle of a new life, pics of cute tail-waggers,consoling friends at time of loss, or laughter from a nonpolitical meme. Well here is my solemn promise, if I counted you as a friend or loved one before, I still will come December. I will read some posts and choose to agree or disagree in my own mind. I actually like reading some posts with differing views in a hope that I gain insight into the reasons or validity behind them. It is people bashing on all sides that offend me. I will not comment or do battle with you. There will be some posts that I block from my view, but I will still love you for the connection that we share.
