arguing with the weatherman
he said: the sky is blue. pure blue.
the sky isn't blue today, not here.
I have seen a blue sky,
pure, Arizona blue, blue unhazed
by the gray of water too diffuse
to gather into clouds

here, the sky is clear blue-gray,
not a cloud on the horizon,
the humidity low (but still
significant—too thick for
my Arizona cousins)—clear
and beautiful and spring.
but not blue.
