On the way home from the thrift store, I heard the chimes at the Catholic Church. I love that sound. I can hear them clearly at my home, just a parking lot away. The ring happens each day at noon and five.

Another sound I like is the noon whistle. This is a relic of the old mining and railroad days. It sounds each day, except Sunday, at noon. Just a short burst on the fire whistle. But then if the fire whistle sounds a long blast, you know there is really an emergency.
