Assimilate

I make no apologies
For my humanness
When under duress
To find a fit in what
Always feels like a new place.

Faces I can’t see,
Let alone envision,
Never materialize before
My wondering eyes.

As I bumble around,
Step on your shoes,
I’m making every possible mistake,
Shunned by some who
Don’t know the first thing
About compassion for a fool.

With perceptions so long
In the making,
Can’t gravitate, elevate without
This awkward rambling.

Aiming for clarity, purity,
Feigning perfection,
I'm lonely, rejected because I
Cannot assimilate.
