A poem a day keeps the cobwebs off my keyboard.

Event Horizon
On the seat by the window
your head on my chest,
wrapped in my arms,
bathed in streams of gold.
You read me Thomas
“Do not go gentle”
and indeed, you fought
until they closed your eyes,
lowered you into the abyss,
plunged me into the desolation,
the long shadows of life without you.
It is not the darkness, but the absence of light
that obscures the future.
Despair is a solitary thing,
it is the event horizon
where the last hope
is extinguished.
