Venus de Milo
Goddess of beauty, so cruelly maimed
were you ashamed when they found you
dug through the ground and named you
the Venus from the island?
Goddess of marble, time has worn you
how they take rulers and scorn you
for one leg longer than the other isn’t
forgetting other limbs left in that prison.
Venus or Aphrodite, do you seek love
would admirers miss the rest of
you or have you so utterly charmed us
that your condition is merely ‘armless?

PROMPT: EKPHRASIS

DON'T RUN AWAY, IT'S NOT A TYPE OF FORM POETRY!

Basically, ekphrasis is taking a piece of art and narrating a vivid description about what's going on. That's it. Really.

Ekphrasis explanation and example

Since this may be new to some of you, there is only one requirement:
please either link to the artwork for me, or include an author's note stating the artist and name of the piece.

There are no other restrictions. Length, form, and chosen artwork are up to you.
