Catechism Poem #1: "What Is the Purpose of Man?"
Q. 1. What is the chief and highest end of man?
A. Man's chief and highest end is to glorify God, and fully to enjoy him forever.

----------------------------------------------------

O, what's the chief and highest end
of man upon the Earth?
What would it take for God to send
His Son in humble birth?

We must needs live to glorify
The One, Who set our home
upon this planet made great by
The Hands, that fashioned loam.

"Man's chief and highest end," I say,
"is that we'd give to God
His glorious due, to work, and play,
enjoy Him, ever awed.
"

We find naught else, that's higher still
to live, and breathe, and know
than in His Face to find our thrill,
and ever love, and grow.
