Nature Walk

Nature Walk

Mabel the dog bounded through balsam root hunting for pocket gophers and mice. I headed to the forest. She soon joined me to hunt squirrels and chipmunks.

Trees reached twenty feet or higher. I see fairy-slipper orchids, then glacier lilies, and columbine. Mabel and I walked a bit further.

Suddenly out of the trees a huge grizzly charges us. He’s headed right our way.

I get the bear spray ready, aim it toward…

“Julie! What are you doing? Are you sleep walking?”

Dazed, I look around. I’m in the bedroom. Mabel’s asleep beside the bed.

“What’s with the Windex?”
