Feeling guilty?

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

How does this verse relate to feelings of guilt?


Guilt comes when we feel as though we should have done something, but failed to do so. John wrote this verse in order to allow us to put away this guilt, I believe. It also has to do with our attitudes. If we are conscious about sin in our lives, we need not feel guilt, but to just confess it, with the attitude of changing sinful behavior.

Just my thoughts on this. I am grateful that God allows us to confess our sins so that we don't have to feel guilt.
