Picture Poems
The rag man comes down our street
He blows a trumpet,
no notes just a bleep
Windmills, balloons,
and candy bars
common give the weans
a treat.
Just a woolly jumper he cries
from his lorry, passing by.

Oor Rose's dress looks neat
When playing housewives,
in the street,
but I think it's seen it's day
So too the ragman I'll
give it away.
Oor Rose is looking out the windie,
Oh she's kicking up a shindy.
I better run so far,
So I can eat my candy bar.

notes Scottish phrases: Oor - our
weans, children, windie, window
shindy, angry.
