Candlelight

February clamors at the windows
The clapboards shiver and moan
I dare not speak above a whisper
Even now you flicker and wave
The flame of your love under threat
And still, the curtains dance


Don’t leave me in the night
Alone in this cold bed
Envelope me in your halo
Kiss me with golden lips
Hide with me under the sheets
Until we are both consumed
