Only Love

Only Love

I was there
getting hit by
Cupid’s arrows, sharp and precise.

During a cousin’s wedding
the bride’s brother,
a handsome youth, tall and dashing
gate crashed into our quarters
enquiring after the groom’s needs
and of his family members.

I was there by the door,
he gently spoke about the arrangements.

Through my twenty or so years,
during high school and college
many young guys, I’d come across.

Yet, there was something different,
totally captivating about the voice and the man.
Yes, this must be the love of innumerable
past lives, coming alive again for him, for me.
