A Heart Is Broken
         A shudder of despair,
         attitude contrary.
         The end feels near,
         a heart is wary.

         Tracks of tears,
         I stand accused.
         Just look at me!
         A heart is bruised.

         Mind is closed,
         final words spoken.
         Footsteps leave,
         a heart is broken.


Free verse with ABCB rhyme scheme. Written 20 January 2014.
