A Living Metaphor
A peaceful glade with flowers fresh and bright,
hides secrets deep in hidden grooves and curves.
A waterfall which changes tempo right
in sync with nature's mood. The rhythm serves
to punctuate the darkest days with bass
and thunder tones, yet summer's cheer
will find a tinkling melody of grace.
The wildlife sate their thirst in mirrors clear,
reflecting skies of blue or grey each day.
A living painting changing all the time,
as seasons pause but never choose to stay.
Green thyme creates a carpet soft, sublime,
and mountains set the backdrop for these shows,
of life and death, the cycle ebbs and flows.

English sonnet. Written 7 September 2014.
