Laissez-faire
Dreams have not fled,
they've trudged off, head down,
glum face, mumbled goodbye,
heaved a sigh, weary frown.

The future lies so far away,
obscured in the mists of time,
hard to justify the effort,
the sweat, the tears, the climb.

It's the age of not believing,
the age of cynicism, despair.
I don't know how to make you dream,
to make you strive, or even care.
