A collection of my autobiographical poems

Life's Apprentice
I learned from my mistakes.
I'll make new ones.

I learned to write poetry.
Still clueless on the masters,
meters, many methods, but...
I'll learn those too.

I learned the difference
between showing and telling.
Still learning to weave in
scenery and settings.
Plots. Oh, how plots elude me!

I learned how to blog
with a natural voice.
Leave the armour off.
Still learning not to leave it too late,
suspending entries
when things get frenetic.

I learned how to listen,
to make time,
to appreciate the moments
and store memories.
Translating memories into vignettes,
to leave a legacy,
an art I haven't mastered.

I learned kindness, generosity,
they come back to you.
Still learning to let go,
delegate. Control freak.

I learned how to photograph,
improving constantly.
Manual mode still teases me
with confusion.
Must practice.
Road trip!

I learned that my talent
is learning, adapting,
being open to new ideas.
Courage to step out of the comfort zone.
Maybe master of none,
but ah, variety is the spice of life,
and I'm still learning to cook.
