Scriptwriting Delayed Slightly
Scriptwriting Delayed Slightly

Twenty-one single paragraphs are very good for a weekday. At least I think that it is. It could have been a little bit better, though. One to three more single paragraphs to be exact. Why didn’t I get those extra paragraphs? It was because of work. I was delayed in starting my writing earlier today because of work.

The first half hour of my work shift today I spent doing my Monthly Safety Analysis. It only took an half hour this month, but if I would have had those thirty minutes, I would have gotten at least one more single paragraph written during that time. I probably would have gotten two, maybe even three more, written during that time frame.

By the time I get my work area set up each day that I go to work takes me about five to ten minutes. So, I don’t start writing when I first get to work. It takes me a few minutes to get ready to start. That includes setting up for today’s work shift too. I need to do that now too, and it takes a minute or two to do too.

So, for the extra twenty to twenty-five minutes I was delayed in getting the other single paragraphs written earlier today at work. Would I have liked getting those extra single paragraphs? Of course, I would have liked to do that. The more writing I get done the better. As I wrote above, I think that twenty-one single paragraphs are good for a weekday.

Out of those twenty-one single paragraphs, nineteen were numeric single paragraphs and two were Establishing Shots. That’s right, I finished my Scene Outline for my third episode, Floating Weapons. It also means I started my fourth episode, Probable Death, too. I needed thirteen episodes to finish Episode Three.

That took me about half of my shift to do, but that included hourly camera checks and a patrol that took me almost an hour to do. In other words, I only had about two hours to get those thirteen single paragraphs written. After all, I was delayed about a half hour, to begin with. Which means I wrote six or seven per hour. That’s very good writing for me.

Once I finished my Episode Three Scene Outline, I started working on Episode Four. Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten too far in it. Besides, the two Establishing Shots that start all my Acts, I got the first six numeric single paragraphs written for this Outline.
That doesn’t sound too good, does it?

That’s because it isn’t, but for a very good reason. For most of the last half of my weekday work shift, I’m not alone. That is when the employees and construction workers start showing up there. It’s not a problem for me that they do that, but it does slow down my writing a little bit. That’s why I only got eight more single paragraphs written earlier today.
