Night Terrors
Doubts attack
in deepest night,
winging their way in
on nightmares,
intrinsically dangerous.
I scream,
soundlessly,
but they never hear my cries,
never hear me beg for mercy.
I have no friends
in the shadows...
only time.
If I can endure,
if I can withstand,
if I can hope...
Time will save me.
As dawn's rays signal
the arrival of early morn,
I taste victory.
I have survived another night.
