That Awkward Reality
Couldn't be more cliched,
the sensations,
the stupid phrases
         that crawled from my mouth.

"Is it in yet?"

That look of disbelief.

"Is that it?"

That heaved sigh of resignation.

A world of expectations
built on lies of romance novels,
collapsed in a few awkward minutes.
But if anyone asks....
