A collection of my autobiographical poems

To my daughter Caitlin
They use words like excessive,
spoiled
and indulgent,
but the magic
of Christmas
is watching you light up,
wide eyes,
huge grin,
with each cherished surprise.
Your squeals of delight,
your quick, tight hugs,
the way you bounce
as if the excitement
may burst out of you
at any moment…
Your satisfied hum,
the glow in your eyes,
the pleasure that seeps
into quiet moments
spent appreciating your gifts.
