when you are wide awake
as your mind goes down
rabbit holes
imagining all sorts
of dire imaginings
until the dawn blasts you awake.

“o dark hundred” is military/intel jargon for the time of day one to three hours before dawn when operatives get ready for dawn operations. Depending on location and time of year it can be between 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. and it is the time of day I have nightmares after insomnia keeps me worrying about everything. For me, o dark hundred is usually between about 3 a.m.
