Roulette
I stare at the the scattered battlefield from the safety of my window.
One of may confused civilians appraising the aftermath
of a 12 week war fought between hot and cold.
The two extremes have been locked in a tango with no happy medium.

I see some survivors of the latest skirmish.
Tulips defiantly standing tall among the wilted cherry blossoms
withstanding the a faint layer of snow at their feet.
Other flowers haven't fared quite so well succumbing to last night's frosty sneak attack
putting an end to their early rebirth.

A T-shirt and sweater lie on my bed.
Which master will I be forced to bow to today?
The Meteorologists, those modern day soothsayers
assure us a truce is near but I've all been burnt by them before and left shivering under the icy wind
or sweating and carrying a fallen coat... a victim of the scorching sun.

I place my bets reaching for a light jacket and hoping for peaceful reprieve!
