There must be a light under the bushel!

Details are boring

Some people thrive on details. They just love to dig in and see their handiwork in making something come to fruition. I'm not one of those people. Don't get me wrong; I love being proud of a job well done, and I love to create. I just can't stand what I consider mindless or tedious types of work.

I like ideas and concepts and thinking of ways to make them work. Maybe this is why I always get those "You're a strong leader" or "You'd be a great manager" type of comments.

However, this also causes me to be good at a lot of things but great at so few. (Jack of all trades, master of few???). The people who handle the details really contribute more, in my opinion, because they have that perseverance and dedication that is so admirable.

My brain also tends to jump around a lot. I have a hard time focusing on just one thing because I get distracted by something else that I want to learn more about. This will likely keep me from ever being able to pursue writing seriously, although I'd like to see what I'm capable of at some point.

Yes, I realize that I could likely be diagnosed with adult ADD or some such craziness, but I have, luckily, found a job where this is mostly useful because I encourage all kinds of knowledge and learning. I just wish it would be more practical in the rest of my life!
