My many talents...
I got to thinking about what my job actually qualifies me to do outside of teaching. It seems like this list is much longer and more interesting than I anticipated...

I'm good at telling other people's kids what to do, always a popular trait, but great for babysitting (and I think babysitters actually get paid more per hour than teachers do!).

I'm good at correcting people's grammar, another party pleaser. I could just do that for fun.

I'm good at making copies. That could be a high stress fulltime job though; those damn machines jam all the time.

I can eat a meal in under 7 minutes, hmmm, pie eating contests? Can you make a living doing that?

I respond very naturally to bells, a good subject for behavioral scientists.

I can appear to listen attentively in boring meetings; well, that should set me up for the business world.

I'm good at keeping everybody in a room quiet and in their seats. An usher in a theater? I'd be worried about wearing the high fashion uniforms though.

I can give a smart-ass comeback for most ungracious comments; that should be good for taking care of hecklers in a comedy club.

I can push a button when a fight breaks out. I wonder if there's any market for a professional 911 caller.

I'm good at tasting all the food that parents bring up to school. That has me well-prepared to be a food taster. A couple of drawbacks here though: I'd have to move to another country, one that has royalty to employ these people and then the chance that I'd actually swallow poison. Well, every job has its drawbacks.

I'm very well-versed in telling people that life will go on after a break-up, so maybe I can join various support groups and see if there is any profit in it.

I can entertain myself talking even when my audience has fallen asleep. That's great practice for the ministry or politics.

I can direct people out of a building in case of a fire or a bomb threat, but nah, I'd probably just run and hope they got out okay.

I'm good at winging whatever I'm talking about. With a good string of bullshit, I can do just about anything!

I might have to add to this list as more jobs come to mind; I had no idea I could do so many things...
