"Perfect" timing
This is just a little brain vomit here folks, so don’t take it too seriously. Once I get this out, I’ll be hunky-dory. (Just where did that term come from anyway?)

I just received my latest assignment from my mentor, and on two of the lessons he was, according to my initial reaction, a bit harsh. The other two lessons he said absolutely nothing. It made me wonder if he even took the time to really read them.

But whether or not he was correct in his comments, or that he even cared, isn’t the point. It was the timing. Here I am spending weeks trying to build my confidence, and then something like this happens to set me back.

I then hear those terrible voices about how I’ll only be wasting people’s time by presenting my work, I’m not ready or grown enough as a writer to be published, yadda, yadda, yadda. The trouble is, when my confidence is low, whether these voices are right or not, I listen and allow them to further chip away at it.

Which is exactly what I don’t want to do. I can’t. Doing so will make this into a self-fulfilling prophecy. Any person I meet with will see my lack of confidence, and how can they gain confidence in me if I don’t have any in myself?

Sometimes I need a good smack in the back of the head hard enough to make my eyes wobble and not let the little things get to me. This is one of those times.

Okay, I feel better now. Thanks for listening . . . I mean reading *Smile*.
