Do you believe in coincidences?

I had a conversation with my husband this afternoon about immortality. I said to him, "I could be immortal. How would I know it? I can only know for sure that I'm not when I die."


Just a few minutes ago, I picked up a poetry book I haven't looked at in years. Looking through the table of contents, the word "Cobra" caught my eye. While turning to that page, I stopped on another page that had an interesting picture. Above it were these words:

"If we were immortal, we wouldn't know it."


Things like this happen to me all the time. I think the Universe is speaking to me or something....

(On a side note, Cobra was a literary & artistic movement in Europe in the 1940s. Like Dadaism, cobra artists turned away from the popular culture. The quote above comes from a piece called, "Logogramme" by Christian Dotremont.)
