Love Train
People believe that love is such an easy thing
Like buying a ticket and hopping on a train
Knowing it will get you to wherever you need to go
Then you can step off as easily as you got on
But love is never that simple
Love comes when the terminal is cold
And you need shelter from the storm
Love comes when you’ve seen it all in your desolate town
And your soul is telling you to move on
Love is your refuge from the insanity of life
And once you’re on that train
You’re comfortable in your surroundings
Around those headed the same way
Knowing nothing is going to be in your way
As you embark on this journey
You are content riding love for all its worth
But then, suddenly
The train slows to a complete
Stop
And everyone must get off
And you step right back out into the cold
Somewhere new and yet just as much alone
And as much as you wish you can stay on that train
Your ticket is one way
And the conductor says you can’t stay
So you stand there
Cold and alone
Watching love pull away
And you start to wonder
If you were better off never getting on that train
