Clear Blue Sky
The temperature rises
to the measure of our lives,
as cold burdens lift,
and simple joys enter to comfort us.

Just look at how our pleasures
open up to a clear blue sky!
So this is Spring!

Hues of the rainbow make rapture
something out in the distance,
a physical remedy,
a scintilating colorful
oasis-of-the-mind where
politics of the flowers
dance to the tune of pollywogs and
pussywillows, daffodils and dogwoods.

We have become gentled in the open air
in the gravel driveway,
racing out with the warm breeze
to a Pontiac that travels down a
dirt country road,
toward an ice cream stand
for waffle cones,
the flowerbeds on our breath.

I begin to be endlessly patient
to fit my stance behind a mower,
for many days ahead,
clear blue sky,
clear blue sky,

beware of the turtle.
