Someone Knew Better
12/18/02

I saw you on DVD.
You were supposed to be a big star
on television
but I don't watch.
I don't care for movies or gossip.
It washes off me quickly.
Then I lost my internet connection
and my wasted digital cable.
I thought I could go without.
I had a roommate that lived in front of the tube.
I was trying to script like Poe.
He was living like HBO.
I was spitting Ginsberg, he was copping Six Feet Under.
He left, cable left, internet left,
and I lost every last thought in between.
Chords change,
paths change
and sometimes people change their point of view.
If I could watch a TV show right now
in hopes that someone else was jotting their thoughts down
in a way I might appreciate,
then I say turn that MF'er on!
Otherwise,
find yourself
in front of the set
or flat-screen or plasma or whatever.
Find it before someone finds you
missing you where you really should be.
