         Today, I had an epidural, a shot of steroids into the lower spinal canal to relieve pain.  You can opt for anesthetic or not.  I chose to be put under.  No way did I want to feel that needle going into me. 

         As my lower spine deteriorates and my spinal canal begins to close off, pinching nerves, etc., apparently I also have two bulging discs.  I begin to wonder more about the physiology of the back, the spine.  I came out of there sleepy with a runny nose.  I've been blowing my nose all afternoon.  But I feel fine -- no pain. 

         I am off tomorrow too --- "recuperation" is what they call it --- though I feel fine.  (I am only too happy to be off two days in a row.) 

         My fingers are itching to write something new but nothing is jumping out at me.
