check me out!
20 years later

Touching up her mass of curls, and blowing herself a kiss, she grinned.

“Stop being so conceited and let’s go, I swear you spend like 20 hours alone just staring at yourself” her sister said rolling her eyes

“Can I help it?  When you look good, you look good” she smiled

“Uh huh, mom and dad miss you around the house, but I think mom’s kinda happy…”

“Tell that to the 100th message she’s left on my answering machine” She rolled her eyes

“Oh well, I like your place though…pretty spacious, maybe I should come mooch off of you”

“Shoot, don’t stay your tall ass where you can get your freebies at, you come here, its gon be half and half”

“Dat’s why ur stingy ass don’t neva see me…so who’s birthday is it anyway?” Liana, her younger sister by a year asked her usual flippant tone

“A friend of mine, you don’t know him, just thought I’d get you out of the house” which was why her mom had probably been calling her so much, usually it was just 20 messages a week, but since Liana had broken up with her fiancĂ©e, her mom was worried about her daughter who had been mopping around the house.

“I get out” Liana mumbled under her breath, Tiara grinned, hooking her arm in her sisters who was 2 inches taller than her even in her heels.

“Course you do sweetie” she leaned her head on Liana’s shoulder, who also dropped her head on hers

“Guys are bastards” she chocked out, silence ensued

“I know” Tiara said, now faraway in thought, biting her bottom lips, “Where goanna have fun” she suddenly spurted out, “We’re just goanna wild out”

“If mom and dad knew what you do now that you’ve moved out” Liana smiled at her as they made their way to her Tiara’s car, Tiara laughed, got in the passenger seat and threw the keys at her sister

“You drive, I’ll tell you the directions, and sweetie, this is exactly what I was doing when I lived with our dear parents and why do you think mom is happy that I moved out?  Now she don’t gots to ‘see’ her party girl of a daughter out partying, she can just hear about it!”

Taking a deep drag of his cigarette, he blew it out looking up at the open sky, he liked this city, the stars, the beauty of the night, there was nowhere quite like it, at least as far as he was concerned.

“That’s 10 years off of your life” a girl’s cheerful voice intruded in on his thoughts

“Ouh, is it really?” he turned to find big eyes staring up at him, rimmed with too much makeup, throwing down the cigarette and stepping on it

“You didn’t have to do that, in fact, can you light up mine?” she put it to her mouth and raised it towards him, he raised a brow but lighted up for her, she took a drag, blew and took a deep breath, “Man that feels good, I’m quitting, here” she said looking at him from the corner of her eye as she passed it to him, he didn’t say nothing but just took it.  “I’m clean, my mouth is clean” she said baring her white teeth at him.

“I don’t doubt that” he said and passed it back to her, she seemed like a decent girl, cute with her curled hair, bright eyes, easy smile, deep dimples, heart shaped face.  She wasn’t a thick girl, but she wasn’t skinny either, he’d guess her to be about a D 30 something, a belly button ring on her flat stomach, flaring hips…

“You want me to turn around” she grinned doing just that, pushing out her ass, “there’s a full moon out, I can see you totally sizing me up” she said and he laughed

“Yea well, I wasn’t tryna hide it, what’s your name?”

“T-eh-ra” she pronounced, and he felt like that name should ring a bell, in fact it did

         “Leo” he nodded at her

“Hu…it’s so casual…but I like it” she looked at him with a twinkling smile, “so Leo, what you doing out here instead of inside?”

         “The same thing you doing”

“Oh you tryna get away from the horny college guys too?” he blinked at her surprised, then laughed

“Clever…” she wasn’t the prettiest girl he’d seen, not even, but besides her body which was banging, her personality erased any question as to why guys would be trying to talk to her

“I can’t stand those drunks…in fact I should be checking up on that sister of mine before some college kids get their grubby little hands on her” she shivered, then laughed, “So Leo, I’ll see you around?”

“Probably not…how bout you give me your number” he off handlely asked her

“How you know I ain’t got a boyfriend?”

“I didn’t ask to be your boyfriend, just your number”

“267-896-5239, see ya, or maybe, right?” she tossed him a glance over her shoulder

         “Right…”

“Can tek it, can tek it no more…” she sang, he laughed to himself, thinking of the 3 year old little girl who the minute you put music on would start dancing, no matter what song, what language it was.
