englyn milwr (#21)
From Hall to Fall

Enter captain, tall and proud,
in the mess hall nice and loud
saluting men in a crowd.

On a plane soldiers sit strong,
not worried about right or wrong,
ready to jump, not prolong.

Bullets puncture hot and deep
with blood and flashes out seep
a body of tears grounds keep.

Each side fights with hopes to win
all suffer the mortal sin
of pain suffered deep within.

The boy shall not become a man
when lost in war that began
from that one old battle plan.

What started off as training
with all will power draining
and make battles less straining.

From mess hall to the last fall
in mud and aching some will crawl
with the goal of life for all.
