Wednesday, November 11, 2009 - VETERANS' DAY here in the U.S.A.

It was nice to be home today... though I've done nothing meaningful, substantial.

No real threat of a hurricane all year and then bam, bam --- two simultaneous threats.  Living along the coast there are familiar nuances that make clear what lurks directly offshore:  strong winds and intermittent rains, streaking through an ominously overcast sky.

No worries.  Accustomed --- we instinctively know the difference between a passing storm and a very real threat.

The one very real threat of obliteration, remained hidden until almost the very last second.  It was so close we could have touched --- its hot breath was on my neck.  Previously fearless, I prayed for mercy.  It veered off-course at the final moment, chasing those who were smart enough to run all the way to Orlando.

Hope you've had a pleasant day regardless of the weather.  May God bless you as you make your way through the remainder of this week.
