WdC’s goal setting on Sundays on FB & my labor pains
Hard to believe! Setting up goals each Sunday on Writing.com’s page on Facebook is working for me. I’m wondering how other WdC writers are doing. I think this is such a cool idea.

Not to sugar coat the reality, but I kept to my word so far. Yet, I can’t vouch for the future. Some days, I wonder how I get myself into things, then other days, I am happy I got myself into things. *Laugh*

Yesterday and today, I wrote my too long, so-so stories. Too long for the time frame I can give them each day; honestly, I don’t think I can keep it up with the way I started this project of writing a story a day, which has nothing to do with WdC’s terrific goal setting project on FB. It has more to do with my troubles with short stories.

The idea of writing short stories that can stand alone but are connected through taking place in the same town is putting an extra burden on me. Instead of freeing me, this is limiting me. So, I’ll just write a story each day. This way I can explore the genres and different things. That may be more fun. I may also need a bit of luck. Okay, not a bit. A lot! Lol!

If I want to write about the town I made up, it should do it when I have a serious idea, instead of trying to introduce the town and its residents as I did yesterday and today.

So much for my labor pains of writing and sticking to my words. Pains? What am I saying? Shouldn’t I say I had a blast? I may have caught a newly identified virus increasing my risk of negative outlook when it comes to writing.

Okay, I’ll step back and look at this from another point of view. I had a good time writing what I wrote because I have a good time writing anything, even those things I find not working well, even those items I’ll discard. The idea is to write and my expectations should not mar the love of writing. Anyhow, I started the project of writing a story a day to overcome a few writing ailments I know I have, the top one has to do with writing a good conflict.

So, this entry has been an entry of talking to myself. To make up for my big mouth, here is a video of an interview with Stephenie Meyer, the writer of The Twilight Saga, New Moon, and Eclipse.
