January 8, 2013: What is your favorite book from childhood?

The first I remember reading, and have never forgotten, were Andre Norton’s wonderful “Lord of Thunder,” a science fiction, and Rosemary du Jardin’s novels for young adolescents, what would be YA, but much more innocent than today’s books. Both my parents were readers and kept a lot of paperbacks and hardcovers in the household, plus my mother and I read Library books often. I enjoyed science fiction and dystopian; I was young when I read “A Canticle for Leibowitz.” Of course, my addiction to horror also started at a young age.
