"30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS Prompt for January 22nd, 2013: Do you think people are inherently good or bad and why?
I think people are inherently good. I think the "bad" people became that way because of situations they faced in their childhoods. I have a background in psychology and did many practicums in jails and mental health facilities. And the one characteristic that seemed prevalent in the clients I worked with was some type of childhood trauma.

I'm not, in any way, implying that people who suffer from some type of mental illness are always bad people. They're not. In fact, some of the greatest people I have ever met have suffered from some type of mental illness. Nor am I implying that people who had childhood trauma are bad. I know this is not true. But all of the people that I have met who are bad have met these guidelines.

I do think it's possible that some people could just be born bad, but I think these instances, if they exist at all, are few. Maybe they are born without the same coping mechanisms that most of us have, or maybe, in Freud's view, there's some type of imbalance in the id, ego and superego. But, generally speaking, I think people are inherently good.

"Blogging Circle of Friends Prompt Forum January 22, 2013: Describe five things you want to see or do before it's too late.

1. Travel to Europe. I have always been interested in visiting Europe, but work and school have always stood in my way.

2. Go on a cruise! I had the chance a couple of years ago, turned it down and have regretted it ever since.

3. Write a novel. I have always wanted to write a novel, and I have so many ideas floating around in my head but have never taken the time to even start one. I do know that I would want to write in in the psychological or thriller genre.

4. Become a respected attorney. Hopefully, I'll pass the bar exam in July and this dream will come true within a few years.

5. Do something to really make a difference for those less fortunate. I have always tried to help those who are less fortunate by doing small things, i.e. cooking and mowing the lawn for elderly neighbors, buying toys for Christmas for children whose parents couldn't afford it, etc. However, I would like to be able to do something HUGE to help several people at once.
