a landscape grows

to colour is soothing
the smooth shading
spreads a sky on blank paper

a pretty world beneath me
its primary hills
undulating like love

I concentrate
as a landscape grows
jagged from my hand

and from its centre
looms a dark form
ominous, spontaneous

its grey scribbles breaking
the peace I am seeking
in the piece i'm creating

a salient bruise of stormcloud
rips up the tulips
blots out the sun

and my pot of pencils
is knocked to my feet
a spill of bright jackstraws

litters the floor
and there is nothing more
to draw

with a very cheap webcam
