Only Words

I have cleaved the meta
from the physical
because there is
only this, the solidity
of the table and the chair.

A strange rendezvous
punctuated with interrogation
marks, after your long forgotten
absence, conjuring me
at peepholes, a tapestry,
losing stitches at my knee.

I am no Penelope
This is no beginning
but a vague epilogue.
The mathematics of sound
has logged me in
And marched me to other rooms.

You have only words,
assertive, rehearsed,
a dime a dozen
and as cultured as pearls.
