in a logical order
building an argument
supporting a thesis
but a conclusion, well
I'm not quite there yet

I have the story
the characters whose contexts
are as clear as atmosphere
and I have
sixty pages
but a full first draft
well, I'm not quite there yet

I have the pictures
watercoloured blossoms
black ink tattoo twirls
everything curly, phallic
rippy collages
doodles and scribbles
but art
I'm not there yet

I am some distance
from the shore
I am a little out at sea
paradisically and otherwise
I am on everyone's journey.
I am on my way
but I'm not there yet
