You Resume

You are creaky on your way
back up from the floor.

Have you ever spun on the world,
whirlygigs over your vision,

limbs frozen in the spin?
You know that forwards

is dragging you by the skirts.
You must keep expecting

alarms and transactions,
glad days with luminous air,

or acidic with chemical tears,
and blank blocks of time that tire.

Even without a flower on your mantle,
the days will come and come.

Again, it is not news. You resume,
an old blue dress and new blue shoes.
