Chapter 2
"Damn, it's pouring outside." The weather had called for chance of storms and I almost called in sick. "I hate working in the rain." I was assigned to a medic unit in the downtown area of a large metropolitan city. My Name is Mike Biggeri. It's kind of like "big hairy" I'm 42, old by Emergency Medical Service standards. Twenty years of street medicine and I can no longer muster enough empathy to give a shit.I'm not sure I want to feel anything anyway. Only ten years from a pension and I'm stuck in a job that hates me as much as I hate it.

The dispatch tones suddenly rang out and startled the crew. "Medic 13 respond to 1311 Harris street for priority four psychiatric."
"Great, gonna go out into the rain for some jackass that can't cope,"
