The Writing Voice
Prompt: A writer suggest that you find your voice by listing what 3 things come to mind when you are describing your writing. Read something you wrote recently. Do you hear any of these descriptors? What do you think of the author's advice?

I try to write to please my readers. Sometimes I am afraid they may not like what I write but it depends on the genre. I wrote about black cats recently and I feel vulnerable but if people love black cats, they will get it. I listen to my readers but I like to write what I like to write and feel comfortable with. I edit even though editing seems hard. I try to find my own voice and use my own voice when writing. I know who I am. I am consistent. I write a first draft like I am writing to a friend. No matter what you write if someone doesn't like the genre, they won't like you or what you write. I go ahead and keep writing. This author has some good advice. I have been reading Stephen King's Writing Advice book but I feel his applies to horror and the dark side but I love what he has to say anyway. I guess we all have to find our style and voice and just go with it. I am always open for advice from other authors.
