Wandering Mind, James Patterson
Blog City Prompt: Why does a mind wander from the task at hand? Does your mind wander? How do you refocus?

In school, I got bored with Math and Science and my mind would wander about things I loved. I knew if I wanted to get a passing grade, I would have to refocus. Like cleaning house and my job, I have to keep going. I have to remind myself to take good care of my patients and get things done at home. When we do things we don't want to, we daydream and think of better things but we have to face reality and do our tasks. If we want to live and survive. Survival of the fittest. I keep plugging away!

BCOF Prompt: "James Patterson says he pretends that I 'm sitting across from somebody and I am telling a story. I don't want to get up until it's finished." He swears this is a recipe for monumental success. Think about what keeps you involved in the books you read. Do you agree with Patterson? What are the elements that engage you? Do you feel the stories you write will an imaginary listener across from you entertained?

I have to like the characters and story line. So many times I get bored with a story. It has to be a genre that I like. If it is horror, crime or politics, I won't touch it. Regency romance, Medieval, paranormal romance, celebrity biographies interest me. When I write, I do hope that the person reading it will be entertained. If I read a book and there is too much swearing, I will not read it. Graphic sex scenes, I flip through it or quit reading it. I like drama, romance, happy ending, suspense but I don't want it over played. I try to write the same way.
