Her Smiles
9-23-08

Her senses tell a story
that I had yet to come across.
Every time
         she looked at me
my mind would be at a loss.
The words I practiced
on my everyday way to her
would get distracted
by thoughts that seemed unsure.

But she always smiled
when I asked for a little more
and she always smiled
as I went to the door.

The way she could see me
comin' from miles away
was almost as lovely
as anything that she'd say.
And she smelled so beautiful
that I had to turn my head
in hopes that she'd hear
whatever I had said.

But she always smiled
when I wanted a little more
and she always smiled
when my jaw hit the floor.

The touch kept me coming
back to her for more
to hear what she might say
         and see her hopefully...
         maybe someday come around
or put each other in our places
         and meet face-to-face
because the girl's got good taste.

Now she always smiles
and I don't have to ask for more.
And she always smiles
when I walk in the door.
And she always smiles
         and she smiles
and I smile
         and I smile
because she smiles
         because I smile
because she smiles
         when I smile and
we don't need anything more.
