Accidental Detainee
6-28-05

When the only lights
in my rear-view mirror
are my own headlights,
it might be time to say
I've seen enough...
enough now to see
all of my errors in
perception of my judgement.
Or,
time well enough for me
to curse my lack
of ability to define a variable reason.

You're looking backward;
I'm counting foreword
to our reciprocative release.

I'm
too much of a lot of things
for you to handle,
and
not enough of what you love.

Exhibit A;
deepthroating our existence sideways
all too familiarly
into hereditary trends.
Exhibit Z
is the end of a new beginning
and on to the trial
where I am to be formally
declared
innocent.
If not in So-Cal
then in my heart;
a child's,
much like mine was taken from.

Its name was a place too familiar
to know by sight,
just legend and example.
I'm sorry
that I couldn't honor it
with more than my mightiest.
Take me away
and don't let me interfere
with it anymore.
It's killing
the best
of everyone around.

I'm stuck here,
trapped in my own wondering,
killing the best of those involved.
